{Review} Sephora Brushes & Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner.

A few weeks back I mentioned that my sister and her husband travelled the Middle East for a couple of weeks and then being the awesome people that they are, brought me back some swoon-worthy makeup goodies from Sephora. Over the next few weeks there will be Sephora branded makeup product reviews up on the blog and I can already tell you now that I love each and every product. Of course there are a few faults here and there as there will always be room for improvement in products but it is definitely worth checking out. I have used products from the Sephora brand before  like eyeshadows and a lipstick that Desle spoilt me with so I knew that I was in for a treat. A little side note before I get into the reviewing of the products: I take all of my product shots before I start using/reviewing products so don’t ever think that the products are new and I haven’t used it before. I just feel that clean looking products makes for much better photography as opposed to dirty products which is inevitable when it comes to makeup palettes.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-brushes-reviewFirst up on the review front I will be telling you about my travel brush set. Now if you read my blog some time last year, you would know that I swear by my Glamore Cosmetics Kabuki brush set so finding a new set that I could travel with had to be just as amazing good. I mainly wanted a travel brush set because I didn’t want to travel with all 10 of my Glamore brushes and I really want to keep them in the best condition for as long as possible. I got gifted a 5 piece set which consists of A powder brush for applying pressed or loose powder and blush. A medium-sized brush for applying light-coloured base eyeshadows. A thin eyeshadow brush for precise application of dark eyeshadows and for graded effects. A sponge-tipped brush for easy eyeshadow application. Lastly an eyelash/eyebrow comb with a brush side for grooming eyebrows before applying eyeshadow and a comb side to separate eyelashes and remove excess mascara.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-travel-brush-setThis travel brush set retails for 59 AED (R219.31) at Sephora in Dubai Mall. The bristles are super soft and my most used out of the five brushes are the powder, eyeshadow and precision brush. I don’t care for sponge applicators or those type of brow brushes. The handles of the brushes are quite sturdy and I can definitely feel that it is of great quality. I have to say though that I experienced some shedding in the beginning and I am led to believe that it is common in new brushes. Even though it is supposedly common, it lowkey freaked me out because I don’t want to be forking out R219 for a travel brush set that is going to shed. Some comforting in the situation is that I did however wash it already and there was no shedding again. If I have to compare these brushes to any brand that is available in South Africa then I would closely, if not identical match it to those travel sized Essence brushes and it even compares in appearance. The brushes picks up product like a dream and the powder brush is particularly my fave one as it makes blush blending super easy and brushes away ‘baking’ effortlessly. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-2-in-1-kabuki-flex-brushNext up is the 2 in 1 kabuki flex brush which is one the products that I was most excited to try as I don’t own a brush like this in my collection. At first glance it looks like any other powder brush but it in fact is so versatile and nifty. The bristles may appear hard and coarse but it is quite wispy and gentle on the face. I have used this brush for setting my entire face with powder, some blush and even contouring. Contouring you ask? Yes contouring! Let me show you how…city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-2-in-1-kabuki-flexWhen you “flex” the brush, it is so perfect for contouring and buffs out any harsh lines. This 2 in 1 kabuki flex brush retails for 84 AED (R312,23) and is definitely one of my favourite brushes in my collection. I have noticed that if I were to not store this brush correctly and at least give it some proper TLC then it would definitely lose it’s shape and start shedding. To keep its shape and prevent it from getting ugly in my makeup bag, I do store it in its original packaging. If you feel like spoiling yourself, I would definitely recommend this brush as it is my go-to for setting my face with a powder after foundation. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-daily-makeup-brush-cleanerLastly I was quite intrigued by this product because it made some bold claims that I wanted to test out and see whether it would match up to its expectations. The last product that I will be chatting about is the Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner that requires no water/rinsing. I thought that it would be such a nifty product to have in one’s beauty arsenal if it really did what it claimed to do. On the bottle it states that you should spray the bristles of the brush with 3-4 spritz in order to remove light traces of makeup and then dab it onto a tissue. I am happy to say that it works like a bomb! Of course it is by no means a replacement or substitute to washing your brushes but rather a short term alternative to using a brush that you simply don’t want to/cant wait for it to dry.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-daily-makeup-brush-cleaner-reviewThe Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner retails for 38 AED (R 141,25) for 60ml and I think it is such a handy product for makeup artists that has more than one client booked in a day. At first I thought that this product would irritate the living daylight out of my skin but to my surprise there’s no alcohol in it. It consists of lemon, lime, grapefruit, and tea tree oils that help to clean brushes naturally while conditioning and protecting hairs. Surprisingly this product dries down within a few seconds and you can immediately use it. It smells quite refreshing and not in any way artificial.

So that is a wrap of some of the products that I received from Sephora UAE. I will post another Sephora review sometime next week. I have to admit that Sephora has become quite pricey…or maybe it’s just the South African rand kicking us beauty lovers in the lady parts. All the more reason to get this brand/chain to SA I’d say! With some of my fave bloggers/readers jetting off abroad, do you see any product that catches your eye?

Products that just did not work for me.

Lately there have been a lot of talk about bloggers that never posts negative reviews because they are afraid of getting kicked off from PR lists. In some cases that statement is true but for me… I couldn’t care less. The only reason why I never post negative reviews (which I also state in my disclaimer) is because it takes so much time shooting content, writing the post and then the huge image size takes a chunk of space on my blog’s storage. I much rather prefer telling my readers what products are worth looking into as opposed to what not to buy. I do however mention what I don’t like about a product even though I like/love the over all product. Today I thought that I would do things a little bit differently and mention a few products that just did not work for me and why.city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-work-for-meI thought that doing things this way would also give my readers a heads up on what to expect from the overall product before forking out their money. Please note that we all have different skin types and needs so what might work for you, might not work for me. Some of these products have been sent to me via PR and others I have bought. city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-work-for-me-2Avon: Clearskin – Blemish Clearing Peel Off Mask

When I first saw this mask I immediately thought it would be one of those peel off type masks that you see on Youtube. The ones where you put on an even layer of product, wait for it to dry and then peel it off. Firstly this product is not even remotely close to what I just described. If you’re a regular reader then you would know that Avon is the most reviewed brand on this blog and I rave about 90% of their products so I am definitely not taking a punch at the brand. This product however did not agree with my skin one bit. The smell and texture of this product reminds me of the arts and craft white glue that I used to play with in primary school. I put it on my face and a few seconds in started feeling a burning and itching sensation. I held out for as long as I could which was quite long but after 5 minutes I just had to wash it off. I say “wash it off” because the mask didn’t dry as a peel off mask but rather rubbed off like one’s skin would if they were sun burnt. The disagreement with my skin which caused me to breakout might be due to the fact that my skin is just too sensitive for this product but I have passed it on to someone else to review it and I will update this post in the next week or so with some findings.city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-work-for-me-4Avon: Clearskin – Blemish Clearing Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser.

Okay now secondly we have another product from Avon that disappointed me. When I started using this product and noticed that this product was not working for me like I had hoped for it to work, it struck me that it might be the Clearskin Blemish Clearing line that didn’t agree with my skin as the Avon Care line works so amazingly on my skin. Getting into why this product didn’t work for me – when I applied a few dots of tinted moisturiser onto my face and started blending it in, the product kind of just sat on my face and made me look greasy which is odd seeing that this is an oil free product. I tried many different brushes and even a beauty sponge but it just sat on top of my skin and applied streaky. Maybe I have the wrong shade, I dunno but I looked “dirty” when I had it on. I may try using it as a primer and see how it goes before I completely throw in the towel.city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-for-me-6Design Cosmetics Foundation in shade Toast

I have reviewed this foundation before in my Design Cosmetics haul and I also mentioned that it was my least favourite product from Design that I have ever tried. The reason why I am featuring this product again is because I didn’t want to give completely up on it seeing that I adore my Design liquid foundation so much. I tried to use this product again but it just won’t work for me. I have no idea why it oxidises on some areas more than others even when I am wearing a primer. I do believe that if you have normal/dry skin type then this foundation will work for you. Despite the cons of this foundation, it does give quite a good medium/full coverage considering the R30 price tag of it. city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-work-for-me-7Jet: Just Be Gorgeous Compact Powder

The “Just Be Gorgeous” line is exclusive to Jet stores and I have had such great luck with their makeup in the past and their foundation even made it onto my top 3 foundations of all time. I bought this powder to set my makeup and thought that it might be close to my new favourite powder from Design Cosmetics but unfortunately it’s not. When you first apply this product it just disappears into nothing and after a while makes your foundation and face look almost ghostly. The formula of this product is quite chalky and swirling your brush in it gives so so so much kick up/ fall out. This product did not work for setting my entire face but it did however work for setting my under eye area without washing me out. You get a nifty little sponge and mirror in the bottom of this compact and know a lot of beauties would love that as an on the go setting powder. I really tried liking this product but it just didn’t happen. city-girl-vibe-products-that-did-not-work-for-me-8EAD Tissue Oil Spray

I really loved the concept of a spray on tissue oil. I have to admit that I don’t hate this product completely. This product is so great as a moisturiser but the reason I started using it was to not only moisturise my face but also to diminish pigmentation and marks. I used this product for about two weeks and then I broke out, I stopped and gave it a try again after a week and I broke out again. I still continued using it on my body and it is the bomb dot com as it soaks into your skin effortlessly. I don’t know if my face is in a bad space right now but I really did want this product to work on my face. I have read online that oils like this can cause breakouts but I will try it on my face again in a few weeks to see if it works. This line is carried at Edgars stores.img_9820Babyliss: Iconic Curl Secret

Before I start off this review I have to say that this product does work. It gives you beautiful curls and really does a fantastic job at what it promises to do. To me personally this product is expensive but if you really long for curls and is not good with curling your hair with a flat iron then this will definitely be your bestie. What I didn’t like about this product is how looooooooooooong it takes to do my hair! When I curl my hair with the flat iron it takes 15 minutes but when I use the Curl Secret it takes more than an hour. This product was good to me before I learnt to use my flat iron but if I had to go back in time and had the choice between this styling tool and a flat iron then I would without a doubt go with the flat iron. Also use this product with caution as your hair can get stuck in the barrel if there’s too much hair in there at a time.

So that is a wrap of all my products that didn’t work for me. Do you enjoy these types of posts? I decided to a few products in the post instead of focusing on one product alone. Like I said previously, this is not a brand bashing post but rather letting you – my readers know which products got a thumbs down from me.

{Review} Sephora – It Palette: Delicate Nude + A winter inspired makeup look

As promised, I will be doing a few product reviews from Sephora every now and again to show you darlings what is worth your moola when traveling overseas and you find yourself in makeup heaven…aka Sephora. One of the products that I was most looking forward to playing with when I received my Sephora Bag was definitely the It Palette in Delicate Nude. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nudeThis palette comes in two shades, the one I have and a palette called “Nude”. If I had to choose between the two palettes then I would definitely have chosen the one that I have for myself… good choice sister! The “Nude” palette has darker shades in and I feel that someone that is not as adventurous or pro in eyeshadow application, my palette is quite forgiving when creating looks. When I say forgiving, I actually mean easier to pretend that your makeup is perfectly blended and easier to correct mistakes. So City Girl Vibe makeup artist (oh yes girl, we have one of those around this parts of town 😛 ) and I created a makeup look using this palette and this is what he came up.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nude-makeup-lookI have to say that I am in love with the look that he created. It is quite versatile and can easily be transformed from day to night. Now let’s get onto the quality of the palette. In this palette you’ll find 12 shades. There’s 5 shimmer shades, one shade with tinier molded shimmer specks, 6 matte shades, a two ended brush and an eye pencil. Right off the back I can tell you that I am besotted with the shimmer shades… the matte… not so much. When using the matte shades in the crease, you require a lot of product and when you apply it to the crease it blends out to almost nothing and there’s quite a bit of fallout. I have resorted to using the lighter shades to set my eyeshadow primer. Even though the matte shades aren’t my favourite out of the bunch, it is definitely not worthless. You can create everyday makeup looks with it, just not as eye catching (nudge, nudge) as you would have hoped for.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nude-eypencil-and-brushThe shimmer shades in the palette are some of the best that I have ever used. Its soft, buttery, easy to blend and work with. I didn’t experience any fall out and my favourite part was the highlight on the inner corners of my eyes and below my brow bone. To intensify the shimmer shades, Zoor sprayed it with MAC Fix+ and it worked even better. Usually with any palettes, I am not a fan of the applicators but I quite enjoy using the brush that came with this palette. It’s soft and fluffy and blends your eyeshadow effortlessly. The other end of the brush is perfect for a sharp wing or using any gel like makeup product. I haven’t used the eye pencil much but it is quite soft and you don’t have to apply much pressure when lining your waterline or lash line. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nude-look This palette retails for 189 AED (R661.97) at Sephora. I don’t feel that it is particularly badly priced if you do consider that you get 6 fantastic shimmer shades, an eye pencil and a dual ended brush with 6 okay-ish matte shades. Some may argue that it is a bit steep and I totally understand why. If I had the moola then I would definitely fork out the R662 just for the shimmer shades but right now it is questionable. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nude-motdWhen the matte shades didn’t work out as well as we had hoped, Zoor lightly dipped into the Bodyography palette just to add some dimension to the look. Even though the matte shades weren’t up there with the best, it did make a great base for the shades that followed. If I had to add one more reason as to justify me forking out the R662 for the palette then it would definitely be for the longevity of the eyeshadow and how well it lasts during the day. I have worn this palette many times and my eyeliner was much more likely to smudge before the eyeshadow started fading.

That is a rundown on what I liked and disliked about the palette. Will this palette be making it’s way into your makeup cart should you find yourself in a Sephora?

{Review} The one product that “fixed” my skin in 3days from TheBeautifulstore.com

Before I even start this post, this is not a sponsored post nor was this product sent to me for review purposes. I spoke to Rachelle, the owner of the beautifulstore.com about my skin as if she were my dermatologist. Without hesitation, she knew exactly what product would work for me and low and behold it did. city-girl-vibe-x-the-beautiful-store-care-and-repair-reviewNow let’s backtrack just a little bit. In the past six years that I have been blogging, I have always mentioned that I have “problematic” skin in the sense of it being extremely sensitive and finding a product that’ll work for me is like finding a needle in a haystack. Without throwing words at you that you won’t understand (I wouldn’t either if I didn’t go to the dermatologist), I have some form of dermatitis. It only affects my face, my ears and my scalp. I have to admit that it is not as bad as I have encountered in other people but the irritation that it causes on my skin is on another level of frustration. city-girl-vibe-x-the-beautiful-store-skincare-care-and-repair-plus-reviewI have honestly been battling with my skin since February. The last time I had this kind of struggle with my skin is when I returned from the Middle East because of their water. I don’t know if it is a similar situation right now with our water crisis and the water not particularly being of the same quality as it used to be but my skin started acting up as soon as our water did.

The product that Rachelle had recommended to me was the Care and Repair Plus from The Beautiful Store. This brand is exclusive to The Beautiful Store and is the online store’s own brand. Firstly if you’re looking for a product that smells like roses then you’re not going to be a fan of the product as this is a natural product made from natural ingredients and has an earthy fragrance to it. I didn’t care that it didn’t smell like a luxury product as the smell disappears the moment the product sinks into your skin.city-girl-vibe-x-the-beautiful-store-skincareThe hardest part for me was not being able to scratch my face or ears and this product soothed my skin the moment I massaged into my face in circular motion. I had inflamed spots on my face that disappeared after three days of using the Care and Repair Plus two times a day.  My skin was smoother and I actually felt comfortable enough to not wear makeup and give my skin a chance to breath. city-girl-vibe-x-the-beautiful-store-care-and-repair-plus-cinsistancyThe consistency of the product is like a crème. You do also get this product in a moisturiser type consistency which is not as thick as the crème and retails for R290 for 50ml and R585 for 150ml. A little product goes a long way so this jar will last me roughly 2-3 months. For the first time in two weeks I was able to wear makeup again as no foundation could hide my uneven skin texture and I didn’t want to irritate my skin even more. When I wear this creme it is quite comfortable on my skin and it doesn’t feel as if I am wearing anything. I have also switched to not using a primer under my foundation as this creme fills and reduces my pores without clogging them.

I am so keen to use this product on my irritated scalp to see whether it would work and I have dedicated a whole week next week to test it on my scalp. I will continue to use this product and will definitely update this post in coming weeks as this product promises to reduce pigmentation, skin rejuvenation, broken capillaries, scar tissue, sun exposure, stretch marks, healing, soothing and after shaving. One thing is for certain, this is definitely going to be my go to product this winter as it is extremely hydrating on the skin.

This product retails for R290 for 50g and is not tested on animals.

{Review} Sephora Micellar Cleansing Milk

Ever since I received my Sephora bag in April, my appreciation of the brand itself has grown so much. I feel like whenever anyone always pop into Sephora then they would go for the popular brands like ABH, UD, Kat Von D, Tarte and so on. That resulting in the Sephora brand being quite unappreciated and going unnoticed. So far I have only experienced good products from the brand and is and will always be on my recommended list. From my Sephora bag, I literally only have one more product left to review and that is the charcoal nose strips. Nonetheless, today I will be telling you about one of Sephora’s  fairly new releases which is their range of Micellar products.

In the past 1-2 years, I have to say that Micellar waters hit the market hard and so many brands jumped on the gravy train to bring out their own version thereof and of course the beauty community all wanted in on it. I am of course not complaining because anything that “gets the job done” is a firm favourite of mine. As I mentioned – Sephora released their own branded Micellar Cleansing Water  , then also Sephora Micellar Cleansing Gel and Sephora Micellar Cleansing Milk. Today I will be reviewing one out of the two Sephora micellar cleansing milks in rose which is for ultra moisturising and brightening. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-rose-micellar-cleansing-milk-reviewRight off the bat, I loved the fragrance of this product. I could smell it before I even opened the bottle. It smells exactly like rose water and not artificial smelling at all. The scent lingers onto the skin and is not overbearing at all. I definitely think a lot of people will appreciate this scent as it really is quite a calming fragrance to have on your skin, especially when going to bed at night when removing your makeup.

When using this micellar milk, you don’t have to rinse off any product as it is a no rinse moisturising and brightening milk. Before I started using this product, I googled other reviews and I saw that a few people suggested that you poured some product onto a cotton pad in order to remove your makeup. I however prefer pouring the product onto my fingertips and give it 5 seconds of gentle massaging onto the face before it dries and then using the cotton pad to remove my makeup.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-micellar-cleansing-milkThe reason why I prefer this method is because this is a cleansing milk and not a cleansing water so the product takes quite a while to soak into the pad and that also uses more product than needed. The consistency of the product is thicker than a micellar water and thinner than a gel so it is much easier to work with.

I am not gonna lie – this product is the perfect “lazy girl hack” for when you just don’t feel like getting out of bed at night to remove your makeup. It does a great job at removing your makeup but I noticed that if you’re wearing waterproof makeup it will take a bit longer to remove and if you’re wearing waterproof mascara then definitely tread lightly as getting this product into your eyes stings for a little while. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-rose-micellar-cleansing-milkWhen using this product, after all of makeup has been removed, it really does sooth my skin especially now in winter when my skin requires a lot more TLC. There’s no sticky residue that remains but your skin feels a tad bit tacky and I know not a lot of people won’t appreciate that but the feeling does however disappear when you apply your moisturiser.

The entire range of Sephora micellar products retails for 35 AED each (R125. 94) for 100ml and I definitely don’t feel like it is badly priced. Yes it is definitely more pricier than a huge bottle of Garnier’s micellar water but if you’re looking into something different that is travel friendly then I would highly recommend this. Next on my list is the Sephora Charcoal Micellar Water for purifying and detoxing. What I love about the range (even though I haven’t tried all of them) is that there’s a micellar product for every facial skin care need like soothing and relaxing and even mattifying and detoxing.

If you find yourself at Sephora, will you be popping one the micellar products into your basket?

{Review} African Extracts: Rooibos – Daily Purifying Pack

Over the past two months I have been using the African Extracts: Rooibos – Purifying range on and off. Three weeks ago, after my skin has been in a much better space I decided to commit to the range fully and get to see what the hype was all about. I have used African Extracts products before but not this range and I have noticed that this range was the most popular in the beauty community. I purchased this Daily Purifying Pack from a friend so I am not entirely sure where you can get it from but I do however know that you can buy each product individually from stores like PnP or even online at Takealot.city-girl-vibe-x-african-extracts-rooibos-daily-purifying-packOne thing that I love about this range is how affordable it is. Skincare can get quite pricey and finding a range that is affordable and does the job is always a great thing. So the Daily Purifying pack consists of a face wash (R45.99), 3 in 1 wash, scrub and mask (R57.99) and a moisturiser (R45.99). Firstly, I don’t use all three products on a daily basis and I tend to alternate between the face wash and the 3 in 1 wash, scrub and mask.city-girl-vibe-x-african-extracts-rooibos-spot-control-facewashSpot Control Face Wash

If you’re in the market for a facewash that is suitable for everyday use then this will be your bestie. I love how gentle this is on my skin and even when I was experiencing major facial issues, I could use this face wash without it irritating my overly sensitive skin as it was flaring up. Like I mentioned it is very gentle on the skin and your skin doesn’t feel like it is being stripped from its natural oils. If you’re looking for a face wash that will remove your makeup at night then this product will not work as it is not abrasive enough. If you do however want to use this product but still want your makeup removed then I would suggest using this face wash along with the 3 in 1 facial wipes that retails for R48.99.city-girl-vibe-x-african-extracts-rooibos-3-in-1-wash-scrub-mask3 in 1 Wash, Scrub & Mask

This 3 in 1 product is perfect for those days where your skin requires a proper detox. If you have clogged pores or oil build up or need all of those dead skin cells removed then I would highly recommend this product. Even though this product is in a “daily purifying pack” I will not recommend this product for daily use as it does a really great job at removing excess oil from the skin but you don’t want it removing natural oils and leaving your skin feeling stripped or dry. On days when my skin was acting up (at its worse) I couldn’t  use this product at all as it irritated my skin but as soon as my skin returned to “normality” this 3 in 1 wash, scrub and mask became my holy grail Sunday night ritual.city-girl-vibe-x-african-extracts-rooibos-dual-action-moisturiserDual-action Moisturiser

Now this product is a firm favourite of mine as it is so great at injecting moisture back into the skin after using the 3 in 1 wash, scrub & mask. This moisturiser is quite gentle on the skin and doesn’t leave your face feeling greasy or heavy. I love how this moisturiser preps my skin on a day that I will be wearing a full face of makeup and on some days even skip using a primer. It smooths out the skin perfectly and leaves your face feeling soft and supple.

For a budget friendly brand I have to admit that I quite like the scent of this range as it smells quite fresh and high end. It’s not overwhelming and is definitely quite pleasant to have a whiff at every now again. Will I repurchase products from this range again? Absolutely! Next on my “to try” list is the Dual-Phase Eye Makeup Remover, the Spot Treatment and the 3 in 1 Facial Wipes.

{Review} Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation.

Over the past few weeks that I’ve been MIA – waiting for my camera, I have been testing so many different products and one of them happens to be Rimmel’s Lasting Finishing Foundation. Now if you always around these parts of the interwebs then you would know that I am no stranger to the trial and error of foundation hunting. In the past few months I have told you about my endless battle with finding the perfect foundation – to my favourite foundations on rotation. Today however I will be telling you about my new bestie that I picked up for under R150.city-girl-vibe-rimmel-lasting-finish-foundation-in-shade-sand-beigeI am no stranger to the Rimmel London brand and am a firm believer in their lipsticks, mascaras and nail polishes. Rimmel’s lasting finish lipstick in shade 170 alarm is by far the best red lipstick that I have ever used and without a doubt knocks MAC’s Ruby Woo to second place. If I am a firm believer in that lippie then it is only fair that I tried their foundations. city-girl-vibe-rimmel-lasting-finish-foundation-in-shade-sand-beige-reviewFirst off let me start off by saying that spring has barely sprung and this shade is already too light for me. The shade that I currently have is “Sand Beige“. For some reason I tan really easily without even being in the sun. Luckily with a good bronzer or darker setting powder, this foundation can still work for me. As soon as this hits my “empties” pile then I am absolutely going to have to repurchase it in a shade or two darker. city-girl-vibe-x-rimmel-london-lasting-finish-foundation-in-shade-sand-beigeThis foundation comes in a pump top bottle duh everyone can see that , but for for some reason my pump has been giving me some trouble since I bought it so I have to turn off the top completely. The formulation of this foundation is a tad thicker than your normal foundation and I personally prefer that over a runnier foundation. Even though this foundation is on the thicker side, it blends like a dream. This is definitely a medium to full coverage foundation depending on your particular liking in foundation coverage. Below I have included two pictures of how this foundation looks in direct natural lighting.

It took two pumps to give me full coverage but still look natural. With this foundation, I can get away without using a setting powder (before i tanned so much) as this foundation doesn’t leave me greasy looking midday. This is one of those foundations that wears better throughout the day. Below I have attached what this foundation looks like on the skin indoors after the sun has set.

Over the past few months that I have used this foundation, my bottle is still more than half as a little goes a long way. If I could suggest at least one tip for using this foundation then I would suggest using a setting spray such as MAC Fix+ as opposed to Avon’s setting spray. MAC Fix+ would set the layers of makeup in one uniform look preventing you from looking overly caked and more hydrated. city-girl-vibe-rimmel-london-lasting-finish-foundation-in-shade-sand-beige-beauty-reviewI have tried three different tools for applying this foundation and the one that comes out tops (in my opinion) is the flat foundation brush. I tried the kabuki brush from Glamore but it left my foundation looking streaky and the sponge soaked up too much product. I do however love going over my face of foundation with the damp blender when I feel that I went in with a heavy hand.

That is a wrap for today’s post! Have you tried Rimmel’s Lasting Finish foundation? It’s so worth checking out if you ask me.

A little while back I got my hands on a new face mask from Tara & Jack that is available from The Beautiful Store. Now ever since I tried out this cream from The Beautiful Store, I know that I am guaranteed an excellent product from the online store. Lately I have been on this face mask gravy train and I am 99% sure that it rubbed off on me from Desle.  Rewind a few months back when my skin cried out for attention, Rachelle from TBS sent me this face mask for sensitive skin but I held off from trying it until I finished my treatment.

I have never heard of the Tara & Jack brand before so of course I was keen to give it a go. I read the instructions on the packaging (which is super cute btw) and I mixed up my face mask. Now when I tried the face mask that I spoke about in this post  , I had somewhat imagined that it would work like the description of the Tara & Jack mask. I tried mixing and applying the mask to my face with a flat foundation brush and the smooth side of a new wooden nail filer but it didn’t work out too well so I used my fingers and I have to say that in my personal opinion – it worked best.city-girl-vibe-x-tara-jack-le-masque-for-sensitive-skinI applied an even layer of product all over my face and let it work its magic for 15 minutes before I started peeling it off. In one packet there is enough product for 3 people. The peeling process is 100% pain free and from the minute you start peeling the mask off you can feel and see the difference to your face. If I could give you any advice on the application process then it would definitely be to make sure that you apply an even layer uniformly or else you are going to have to go in with a damp cloth to remove those thinly applied areas. My skin felt and looked super smooth with no irritation to my overly sensitive skin. Before I used this mask I had minor flaking along my eyebrow area but the mask sorted that out and even removed the excess makeup that my cleanser didn’t.

The mask itself smells super fresh and high end. If I could put it into a description box then I would classify it as a facial in a packet. It soothed my skin from the minute I put it on and reduced the redness along the area around my nose.city-girl-vibe-x-tara-jack-le-masque-for-sensitive-skin-reviewThis mask has Bilberry Extract and Vitamin C which are both known to have excellent antioxidant properties that help to prevent or reverse damage to cells caused by free radicals. The sensitive skin mask retails for R120 on The Beautiful Store website with an array of other Tara & Jack face masks to suit any skin challenges that you might have. Next on my list is the Moisturizing Biocellulose mask.

Have you tried anything from the Tara & Jack range of face masks yet?

{Review} Avon Foot Works duo to get your feet sandal season ready.

Sandal season is fast approaching and today I will be telling you darlings about the two products worth looking into to prep your feet come warm summer weather. I am not a feet person, I repeat – I AM NOT A FEET PERSON … at all. What I mean by “I am not a feet person” is that I don’t like people touching my feet so a pedi or foot massage is out of the question. If I can find a product(s) that works for me and that suits my budget then I am a happy camper. Even if the product exceeds my budget, I don’t mind forking out a little extra as my feet is definitely the one area that I don’t invest too much into so something that gets the job done is definitely a bestie of mine.city-girl-vibe-x-avon-foot-works-rangeEvery once in awhile I like flipping through the Avon brochure to see what I NEED. I have honestly stopped the whole process of buying things that I don’t need… well almost. A few months back I came across the Foot Works range and I decided to order two products in the range. In this month’s brochure I didn’t spot this range but I have spotted two other ranges in the Foot Works collection with similar products to what I will reviewing today. All the products in the Avon Foot Works collection is quite affordable as I remember paying under R100 for both of these.

First up I have the Avon Foot Works Comforting Soak. The foot soak is such a goodie when you’ve had a long day and you just need to unwind. I love using mine with my foot-spa but it works just as well without it. I pour a small amount into the water of the footspa, turn on the vibration and bubble setting so that the product can incorporate into the water and then turn it off so that my feet can soak for a while. When you’ve completed your at home footspa treatment, you can actually feel the difference to your feet and the skin. Your feet is left feeling super soft and rested. The scent of this foot soak is quite refreshing but not as potent as I would have liked as the fragrance doesn’t linger too long after usage. city-girl-vibe-x-avon-foot-works-comforting-soakWay back when I just started my blog (please excuse the really really really bad image quality) I reviewed the Le Edge Exfoliating tool and I have to say that the Avon Foot Soak and the Le Edge exfoliating tool goes hand in hand. It does a great job at removing dead skin on the feet, especially the heel area. If you ever have R 1 705 to invest in your skin then I would suggest getting the Le Edge exfoliating tool from Wantitall (Even though I would never be able to justify spending that amount on it).

Next up is the Avon Foot Works Sole Support Cushion Cream. Now this product was my bestie even in the colder winter months. To prevent dried, cracked and flakey heels – I would slather this product all over my feet and put on a pair of socks to lock in the moisture just before going to bed at night. This cushion cream leaves your feet feeling ultra soft and hydrated. With this cream you require the smallest bit of product as a little goes a long way. The cream smells so good and definitely lingers way longer than the foot soak.city-girl-vibe-x-avon-foot-works-sole-support-cushion-creamThe sole support cushion cream goes hand in hand with the foot soak and I apply it immediately after drying my feet after it’s soaked for 15+ minutes. To me the Sole Support Cushion Cream is like a pedi in a bottle… maybe without the nail grooming. Or if you wanted to you could totally go the whole nine yards. As this product is extremely hydrating on the skin, I prefer leaving it overnight with socks as opposed to using it as a daily foot cream because it has a “wet” feeling to it and it takes a while to absorb into the skin. The product claims to show results within a week and I cannot attest to that as I don’t really have dehydrated or flakey feet but I can noticeably see and feel a change in my skin.

And that’s a wrap up of my summer essentials for your feet. Any advice on products that is an absolute MUST HAVE for my feet to get them sandal season ready?

This post has been a long time coming. I promised to try my best and squeeze in some time to blog due to my hectic schedule with university and all but blogging is what I love doing so I’m pushing myself to make time. Sometime last year an international brand named Kinzd gave me the opportunity to choose anything on their website and of course I headed straight to the cosmetic bags.city-girl-vibe-x-kinzd-travel-cosmetic-bag1Now let me give you the low down on Kinzd. Kinzd is a leather accessories business based in Hong Kong that manufactures all types of leather accessories such as wallets, card holders, money clips, card cases, belts, cosmetic bags and storage cases. They come in an array of different styles and sizes so there’s definitely something in the Kinzd range that you will love. The Kinzd brand is always adding new products to their ranges and speaking from personal experience, their products are great quality.city-girl-vibe-x-kinzd-travel-cosmetic-bagI’ve had my Women’s Travel Cosmetic Bag for months and it still looks brand new. To the the day that I snapped the pictures for this blog post, it still had the protective stickers on. In my cosmetic bag there are multiple compartments. The top one is where I store my travel size toiletries in or bigger makeup products and the bottom is where I store my makeup brushes, lipsticks and palette.

It is quite sturdy so I know if I dropped it, my makeup would be secure inside. I’ve had translucent powder fall out in it and all I needed was a wet wipe to clean it up and it looked as good as new. The fabrication is Nylon Oxford (Jeanette) and is waterproof so I know when I take it with me in the bathroom, the steam won’t affect the products inside.city-girl-vibe-x-kinzd-travel-cosmetic-bag-organizerMy bag costs $22.99 (R271.69) and I feel that it’s not badly priced since you’re getting a great quality travel cosmetics organizer. It did take a while(± 2 months)to get to South Africa but it was immediately shipped from China and the lengthy process of waiting was from the South African Postal Service. I paid R24 customs on my package when I received it from the PO and the packaging wasn’t in the best shape but luckily its not a fragile product.

I love the gold detailing of the zips as it gives the bag a luxe high end feel. On their website they let you know how to take care of your products.I look forward to this brand growing even more and incorporating more colour into their products. If you’re in the market for great quality products for both men and women, give Kinzd a visit!

Empties #5

Today I am back with yet another post. Did I mention how good it feels to be back to blogging? Oh yes I did! I even posted on Saturday which is such a rarity for me and has probably only happened once before in the 7 years that I have had this blog. Nonetheless, today I am back with another Empties post. The last time I did an empties was in 2016 and I have found that by me doing empties posts, it really does save me from wasting money and only using products halfway. In today’s post I will be focusing on products that I have been using from start to finish and let you know what worked for me and what didn’t.city-girl-vibe-emptiesIf you take a looksee at what’s peeping out in my empties bin, I would describe it as my basic survival items. No mess, no fuss items and just the bare minimum that got me through the past few months such as dry shampoo (because I just didn’t have the time to do my hair as often), eyebrow gel ( to tame my unruly eyebrows because I didn’t have the time have them done)… and so on.

African Extract Rooibos Spot Control Face Wash
city-girl-vibe-x-african-extracts-rooibos-spot-control-facewashI have done a full review on the African Extracts Daily Purifying Pack a few months back and I have repurchased this face wash. That should be a testament as to how good and how much I love this face wash. It is not very harsh on the skin and does a great job at removing makeup and excess oil at the end of the night. I used this face wash twice a day and it didn’t strip my skin from its natural oils at all. Will I repurchase it? Absolutely. It is worth your money and is quite budget friendly.

Batiste Dry Shampoo for BrunettesIMG_4841Now this dry shampoo has been a lifesaver for months! There were days where I just couldn’t be bothered to do my hair and have it perfectly styled. I would do a few sprays in my hair and work this product through to absorb excess oils from my hair. As I have an oily T-zone, my eyebrows would get greasy as well so I would spray a tiny bit of this dry shampoo on my spoolie or eyebrow brush and comb it through my brows. Seeing that this is a tinted dry shampoo, it didn’t leave a white cast on my brows as most dry shampoos usually does. I also have a post dedicated to dry shampoo hacks that you can give a read over here.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in shade 365 Passion Plum and Rimmel London in shade 170 Alarmcity-girl-vibe-x-rimmel-london-lipsticksFor both lippies, these are usually my go to shades. I love that they are long lasting but yet doesn’t dry the lips out. It is in fact quite hydrating. These two lippies are repurchases as well and have featured on the blog many times before. I loved the Maybelline Colorsensational lippie to give my lips a burst of colour and the Rimmel lippie still stands as a firm fave in my books as a classic red lippie that even trumps the likes of MAC Ruby Woo. Both are super affordable and will be making it into my shopping cart come month end.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascaracity-girl-vibe-x-essence-make-me-brow-eyebrow-gel-mascaraI have been dying to try this eyebrow gel for the longest time, ever since I saw it being so popular amongst beauty bloggers in South Africa. I have been searching for this eyebrow gel for months and just gave up on it when I didn’t find it at Clicks. In between that I just used my Signature Complete Glamour Brows palette and set it with the dry shampoo. One day I finally spotted this eyebrow gel in the sale bin at Clicks and I didn’t hesitate to pop it in my basket.  After using this eyebrow gel, I can definitely see why it is a firm favourite amongst beauty enthusiast.  This sets your brows in place perfectly without making it feel crunchy. This brow gel is also perfect for those days where you just want to tame your brows (for those that have fuller brows like me) and don’t have the time to fill in those sparse areas or to go full on snatched brows. Will I repurchase this? 100x YES!

Avon Light Moisture Cleansing Gelcity-girl-vibe-light-moisture-fomaing-gel-cleanser-reviewI have done a full review on this cleanser in a previous post and it still remains one of my top facial cleansers. As you can tell – I burn through face washes really fast so the fact that this facial cleanser appeared in an empties post previously says a lot about my love for this product. If you’re on a budget and are on the lookout for a new facial cleanser then give this one a go.

L.A Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Foundationcity-girl-vibe-x-l-a-girl-pro-coverage-hd-foundtionThere is nothing I love more than trying a new foundation. Yes, sometimes it’s a hit and sometimes it’s a miss. I bought this foundation back in December and only just ran out a few weeks back. This foundation really gives you the perfect coverage and is completely buildable. I usually go for a medium coverage but if you’re a full coverage girl then this foundation will work for you as well.  One thing that I have the biggest gripe with when it comes to this foundation is that if you have oily/combo skin then this foundation is definitely not for you. The first two hours of me wearing this foundation gives me the best coverage that I have ever had from a drugstore foundation  but after two hours in summer time then I am a complete oily mess, not just on my T-zone but my entire face. To be completely honest, blotting and dusting powder over at the touch up interval is only temporary and I end up having to touch up every two hours or else this foundation separates in certain areas.  When the colder months started rolling in this foundation was my ride or die as I don’t really get greasy in winter obviously. I do however know that L.A Girl released the Pro Matte HD High Definition Longwear Foundation but I haven’t seen it at Dischem yet but as soon as we get it in SA then I will definitely be doing a review on it. I have used many L.A Girl products before and I know that they have bomb a$$ products to suit every budget girl’s pocket. Come month end, this foundation will make its way into my basket as I find it best suitable for my skin in the colder months.

That is a wrap up of my current empties. Are there any items in my empties bin that you have tried?

{Review} Yardley Loose Powder: Translucent Bare

So lately I have just been on this setting powder gravy train, where I was in the market to test setting powders that is budget friendly but ultimately does what it is supposed to. Of course we don’t have access to the YT hyped setting powders like the Laura Mercier or RMCA unless it is sold by third party sellers at overexaggerated prices so I have to opt for what’s suitable for my pocket. The main reason why I was actually in the market for a setting powder (besides the fact that I have a super oily T-zone and makeup tend to oxides on me like clock work) is because I started using the L.A Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Foundation. Using a setting powder with this foundation was a must for me.city-girl-vibe-x-yardley-loose-powder-in-translucent-bareI have been using this setting powder since December last year and I am still not half way through the tub. This is such an underrated product in my opinion and it is definitely a gem worth sharing. The yardley loose powder comes in a variety of shades such as caramelised, deep beige, cappuccino, translucent buff, translucent bare and absolute translucent – which is suitable for all skin tones. I am currently using the translucent bare shade as the other powders didn’t seem too fitting for my complexion and I didn’t want it altering my foundation shade (I didn’t spot the absolute translucent).

Now let us get into the reviewing part of this loose setting powder. The powder retails for R149.95 and is found at Clicks, Dischem and online at Takealot. I am sure you will find it elsewhere but those three are my go to faves. With this setting powder, I used it to:

  • Bake
  • Set entire face
  • Set concealer to prevent creasing under the eye area
  • Carve out contour
  • Lay down as a base to brush away fallout

city-girl-vibe-x-yardley-loose-powder-translucent-bareI have found that this product is not suitable for baking with the L.A Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Foundation. It would settle into my fine lines, clog my pores and also exaggerate texture. Now this might only happen with my skin but it might work for you. Products do however vary between individuals. When I used a different foundation, I could bake my under eye area effortlessly.

I would use this loose powder with either a beauty sponge, blush/powder brush or a puff. All three methods worked great for whatever it is that I was trying to achieve while doing my makeup. I have however found that with traveling, I have to insert the flat puff under the screw off cap to prevent more product from rising to the inner lid. When this happens, it is a messy situation and you’re left with product everywhere.city-girl-vibe-x-yardley-loose-powder-translucent-bare-reviewThis loose setting powder smells really good, not an overpowering good that becomes headache inducing after a while. I have super sensitive skin and the fragrance in this product didn’t irritate my skin one bit as this powder is also dermatologically tested. I cannot comment on the fact that it causes flashback when using flash photography as I haven’t used this setting powder when taking pictures with a flash. What can I say? when I am having a good time with my people:P I don’t feel the need to photograph every moment.

As I have mentioned, this product isn’t suitable for every type of foundation when baking. If I can give you one word of advice then it would be – if you’re using a matte foundation, ensure that you moisturize and use a hydrating primer or else your makeup will look cakey. Will I repurchase this setting powder? Absolutely! I might however try the absolute translucent next.

Thank you for reading today darlings. Yay or Nay for the Yardley Loose Powder in Translucent Bare? A big YAY from me! seeing that I have been using this powder for six months, I do feel that I have figured out how to use this product and make it work for me and my skin type.

5 of my favourite palettes to create a 15 minute face.

Before you give me the side eye for using 5 palettes for one makeup look, let me give a break down of what its for and how I use it. So in order for me to get the look that I want, I don’t have one palette that has all the perfect shades in. One of the palettes in my top 5 palettes are my eyebrows and the other palette is for bronzing/contouring. In my top 5 palettes in my collection I have a mixture of matte and shimmer shades that I have come to love and use religiously.img_7190If you look at the packaging of some of these palettes then you can see that I have had it for a hot minute and of course used the sh*t out of it. By looking at the shade range, you can tell that I am a neutral girl and is not very adventurous with colour yet. Some of these palettes are now discontinued or rebranded but you will definitely find them or similar items in the brands product lines. It’s all about making the product work for you.  First up…

Sephora – It palette: Delicate Nudecity-girl-vibe-x-sephora-it-palette-delicate-nudeI have a full review + a makeup look using this palette over here. Now initially I had said that this palette’s matte shades are not up there with my favourites like the shimmer shades. Since doing that review my opinion has changed slightly and I had a whole year to learn how to use this palette and make it work for me. Now obviously the fallout situation with the matte shades will still remain the same but the fact that it blends into nothing… now that opinion changed slightly. Over the past few month I came to the realisation that I have oily lids. I had mentioned it before but I only really realised this when I started venturing into eyeshadows. Since then, I put my Avon Ideal Flawless Liquid Concealer on my eyelids and set it with a powder. After completing that step I am able to work some of the browns into my crease area to create definition and I don’t have to use as much product as I used to before. I realised that my oily eyelids “ate” the product before it could even show up on my lid and when the oiliness were absorbed, the shadows would show up. Using a matte concealer really did the trick and I have to mention that this palette’s brush is one of the only applicators that I have used that I have received in a palette. If I really wanted to, I could use this palette alone to create an entire look but we all know I won’t do that because I am extra AF so I find myself dipping into my other palettes. This palette retailed for R661.97 at Sephora in Dubai Mall.

Clarins – Colour Quartet: Earth img_7184You guys, let me just start off by saying that I have had this palette since forever and it should probably be thrown out already but I just love it a heck of a lot. My sister gave me this palette a while back and it was the first high end makeup product that I owned. I didn’t use this palette because I treated it like a collectors item and the other half of me also didn’t want to use it because I didn’t even know how to start off using eyeshadows. Fast forward to new makeup brushes, Youtube tutorials and Pro MUA friend, this palette is my favourite in my makeup collection. This is such a practical palette and in my opinion is the perfect palette for someone that is just dabbling in the eyeshadow world. Obviously because this eyeshadow is so old, it is rebranded and comes in 6 different shades (4 shades in each palette) and is sold directly on the Clarins South Africa website. If you spoil and splurge on yourself at least once then I would highly recommend this palette. It retails for R565. This is a travel friendly palette and you can absolutely create an entire look with this palette. I would usually use the dark gunmetal shade on the outer V of my eye and the last shade to highlight under my brow bone. This palette is quite pigmented so a little goes a long way.

Revlon – Charlie: 8 pan eyeshadow palettecity-girl-vibe-x-charlie-revlon-8pan-eyeshadowOut of all my palettes this is probably the most daring one. I received this from my MUA friend a few months back but it is such a goodie. I feel like this palette can take any boring makeup look and turn into something spectacular. With my love for neutrals, the looks can get quite boring so I always count on this palette to bring something new. I may not always dip into all of these shades but I especially love the second shade for the inner corner highlight or to tap on the center of the lid. In this palette you receive 7 shimmers and 1 matte. You can’t use this palette to create an entire look but it is such a great addition to your makeup collection. I have found that I can’t use a brush when applying these shadows onto my eyelid so I just end up using my finger to pack  on product and then use a brush to blend out the edges where the shimmer meets the transition shade. Surprisingly for a shimmer palette there is little to no fallout in this palette. The shades also comes across as foiled before you blend it out. This makes the palette quite unique because you can either go for a foiled look or a shimmer look. I am not sure if this palette is still on the market as I can’t find it anywhere online but used to spot it at Clicks for R120 and a few months later in the sale bins.

Signature: Complete Glamour Brows Palette city-girl-vibe-x-signature-complete-glamour-browsIf you look at the packaging of this palette now in the first picture, you will probably see how much I love this palette. To say that I used this palette to death would probably be an understatement. I definitely used the heck out of this palette and is one of my most recommended products if anyone asks for eyebrow kit/products suggestions. Besides the fact that it works like bomb, it is so affordable and suitable for everyone (blondes, brunettes, dark haired). I did a full review on this palette and I mentioned it quite a few times on the blog but this is the only palette I use to do my brows. It doesn’t disappoint and I have my brows beautifully filled all day. The only thing that I don’t use in this palette is the wax and the mini brush. Some days I would mix the black and blonde to give me my eyebrow shade and other days I would use the brown on its own. This ensures that I use all the shades in the palette. Currently retailing for R84 at Signature stores, it is at the top my repurchasing list when this runs out. If you want a more in depth read on this palette then click on the link a few lines above.

Wish – Contour and Bronzing palette: Mediumimg_7185Before you freak out just a little bit because I am using makeup from Wish, just know that I have been using this palette for almost 3 weeks and I am completely fine, in fact I look like I have been tanning on a beach in Bora Bora – that is how bronzed up I look thanks to this palette. I use this palette for bronzing and not for contouring as I prefer cream contour. I honestly just bought this palette out of curiosity and to my surprise really loved it. Now I only use the bottom three shades in the palette and occasionally the third shade in the top row to set my concealer before applying eyeshadow. This palette retails for under R50 and is dirt cheap in my opinion. I sometimes use the browns as an eyeshadow and have also used the darkest shade to fill my brows, I promise it is worth every penny. The are many different vendors on Wish so you can definitely still find this palette. This palette also comes in a number of different shades to suit your skin tone. If you’re a Wish shopper and/or have the patience to wait 1 month minimum(sometimes months) for your palette then be sure to give this palette a try.

And that is a wrap up of my top 5 palettes that I use almost daily. I am not someone that faffs about with alot of makeup in the morning and I know that I can count on these 5 palettes (including foundation, concealer and setting powder) to give me a 15 minute look.

Have you tried any of these palettes? If so, what are your thoughts?

{Review} Pond’s White Beauty Pearl Cleansing Gel

Today on the blog, I thought that we should step away from makeup for just a little bit and focus on skincare. We all know that winter is the time of the year where your skin needs all the TLC that it can get so I love trying out new skincare. Over my broke student years status, Pond’s have always been my “go to” brand for affordable products and I love trying their new releases when it appeals to me and my skincare needs.

If you read my empties post last week then you might have noticed that I burn through face washes really fast. The main reason for this is that I use it twice a day. I use it in the morning to cleanse my skin and remove excess oil before I apply makeup or else the oil build up just eats the makeup from my face. At night I use the facewash to remove my makeup and to prevent my already enlarged pores from clogging. The face wash that I will be reviewing today is the White Beauty Pearl Cleansing Gel from Pond’s.city-girl-vibe-x-ponds-white-beauty-pearl-cleansing-gel1This cleansing gel claims to lighten skin and dark spots. Now firstly, I am not in the market to lighten my skin and to be quite honest I haven’t seen this happening in the ±  2 months that I have been using this cleansing gel. I have however seen a reduction in the dark circles around my eyes caused by lack of sleep. Even with the reduction in my dark circles around my eyes, I can’t be 100% sure that it is this cleansing gel as I now do get more sleep as I did in comparison to the past few months. The cleansing gel further claims to lighten skin and dark spots by inhibiting the transfer of melanin to the surface of the skin revealing a clear and translucent complexion. As I am already somewhat light of complexion, this might be why I haven’t experienced this but I wouldn’t recommend this cleansing gel for my deeper skin toned girls.

The cleansing gel is packed with Pro-Vitamin B3 which is proven to be highly beneficial for one’s skin as it helps reduce wrinkles, uneven skin tone, assist in healing acne,  reduces hyperpigmentation, reduces topical inflammation and can help with sun damage. The underline scent of this product has floral notes, it smells extremely high end and definitely more luxe than any other budget brand that I have ever used.  I would wet my face with lukewarm water, squeeze a pea size amount onto my hand, add some water to the cleansing gel and apply it to my face by massaging it into the skin causing it to lather up. city-girl-vibe-x-ponds-white-beauty-pearl-cleansing-gel-reviewAs you can see, the consistency of the product is quite thick and gel looking but once it gets massaged into the skin with the lukewarm water, the product spreads over your skin evenly. Surprisingly for a product that is so scented, this cleansing gel didn’t irritate my skin one bit. It is quite deep cleansing but you aren’t left with skin feeling tight or stripped from its natural oils. After I have rinsed the product from my face thoroughly, I let it air dry as I try to not dry my face with a towel. My face is left feeling super soft and well cleaned. If you have light-medium skin tone then I would highly recommend this face wash as an everyday gentle cleanser.

Now I have had this cleansing gel for quite a while and only started using it after I finished the African Extract Rooibos Spot Control Face Wash and my Avon Light Moisture Cleansing Gel and I honestly can’t even remember where I bought it. I tried searching for it online and saw that it is no longer sold in our stores like Clicks, Dischem or Pick n Pay but you can however shop for it online at wantitall.co.za . On wantitall this product retails for … *clears throat* clicks in next tab to triple check the price R795. I will repeat this… R795. Yes I have all my figures in the correct places and I may be a little bit shook myself but that is what it is going for. I certainly recall that I did not pay over R100 for this cleansing gel and as much as I love it, I definitely don’t think that it is worth that price. It says that this product is imported from US, so that might be why it is so overpriced.

{Review} 2true Voluptulash Waterproof Mascara

We all love a little volume in our lashes and today’s product that is up for review may just be that coat of magic that your eyelashes are looking for… sheeeesh when did I become this poetic? Nonetheless, Today I will be telling you about a budget mascara that I only recently started using after finding it on sale at Clicks. Yes my loves, Clicks is my beauty heaven and there is not an opportunity that goes by where I am in the mall and pop in there to see what’s on offer. I have seen the 2true brand at Clicks before but haven’t seen a big selection of products on offer. I did a little bit of a Google-search-a-roo and was surprised to see how big this brand is in the UK.

Their prices both locally and internationally aligns with a brand like Signature and is in the lower price spectrum of the beauty market. This however is not a testament to the quality of their products as I have countless times mentioned that you find some spectacular products in the budget friendly lines (it makes appearances on the blog all the time). Now the 2true Voluptulash Waterproof Mascara that I will be talking about today is not a new product. In fact it is quite old and is a recurring product in the brand’s range of mascaras. I picked this mascara up for under R50 at Clicks and I would definitely define it as an everyday mascara.city-girl-vibe-x-2true-voluptulash-waterproof-mascara1If you’re in the market for a mascara that is going to give voluminous lashes, that is visible from 10km away then this is not the product for you. Even though this mascara labels itself as such, this mascara is more of an everyday – no mess – no fuss – type of mascara that does an excellent job at creating a tiny bit of volume in your lashes and making it look more wispy. I have extremely sensitive eyes and the use of most mascaras just irritates my eyes so when I do find one that doesn’t burn the living daylights out of my eyes, I stick to it. This mascara does just that.

I haven’t tested the waterproof theory because… like… uhmm… I don’t want to get caught in the rain and I dislike being wet anyway. I have rubbed my eyes when wearing this mascara and it didn’t rub off easily. When I remove my makeup at night before cleansing, I would either use a makeup remover wipe or my Sephora Micellar Cleansing Milk  and I didn’t have to tug at my eye to get the product off my lashes. city-girl-vibe-x-2true-voluptulash-wsterproof-mascara-wand1I love how product doesn’t gather at the base of the wand and hallelujah for a traditional spoolie. I am so tired of these oversized wands and gimmicky spoolies that makes the mascara near impossible to use. Just the right amount of product gets picked up on the wand and you’re left with sufficient mascara to give your lashes a few coats. This mascara is buildable on the lashes and doesn’t clump at all.

A few layers also doesn’t make your lashes hard. I chose the shade 1 Black which is obviously my colour choice for a mascara and is quite universal. I am all for the sleek, no mess, no fuss, standard packaging of this mascara. If you’re in the market for just an everyday mascara for work then I would highly recommend this, I also feel like this mascara is a good start for girls just getting in the makeup groove or even for teen girls that loves a wispy lash with minimal makeup.

{New In} From UAE Drugstore.

It is that time of the year where my “beauty mule” comes from the UAE and brings me some goodies that I can’t wait to test out. Now usually when you have someone coming from the Middle East or whichever place where there’s products that you can’t find in your country/city then the top recommended store would be Sephora. I wanted to try something different. I wanted to see what the drugstore had in terms of skincare and whatever other bits and bobs she would find fitting for me.city-girl-vibe-x-new-products-from-uae-drugstoreToday I thought I would share some of the goodies that I received and this will also stand as a preview of reviews that you can expect in the coming weeks. I started using some of these products right away so that I can give you the low-down on what I’ve been loving and what I would recommend to you should you find yourself in the UAE. Not everything made it onto the blog and not everything that I mention in this post will make it in a review like the Cala Body Refresher Cleansing Glove and Makeup-Brush. Come’on… I know you darlings don’t want to read about how well I clean myself. 😀

city-girl-vibe-x-himalaya-herbals-nourishing-skin-creamHimalaya Herbals: Nourishing Skin Cream – All Day Moisturizer

This product/brand is also available in South Africa. You can find it both online and in stores, with quite an extensive range on offer. I started using this product right away as skincare takes longer to review as opposed to a makeup product or gadget. I always spot this brand and for some reason never gravitated toward popping any of their goodies in my shopping basket. I will however have a full review of this moisturizer on the blog in the next week or so.

city-girl-vibe-x-yardley-london-arabiaYardley English Lavender Perfume set and Luxury Soap

You guys! @YardleyLondonArabia is doing the utter most. I never even knew Yardley extended itself this far in terms of cosmetics. I am an avid user of their makeup but soaps are something new to me. I have been playing around with these already and I may or may not feature it on the blog. It is however items that I know many SA beauty enthusiasts would love. I will most probably share it with my mom and hear what she has to say about these products and then maybe report back in a full review in the coming weeks.

city-girl-vibe-x-cala-body-refresher-cleansing-glove-and-makeup-brush1Cala Body Refresher Cleansing Glove and Makeup-Brush

Now these two items will definitely not make it onto the blog for a review. I will however use the items. Cala is quite big in the UAE as they have an extensive range of loofers, hair brushes, cosmetic brushes… you name it. I bought a few of these body refresher cleansing gloves the last time I was in Dubai and I have to say that it was such as goodie! The makeup brush is for foundation and it is such great quality. I am usually not a fan of this type of makeup brush for foundation as I prefer a kabuki brush but I will definitely give this one a shot.

city-girl-vibe-x-fem-skin-softening-hair-removal-creamFem Skin Softening Hair Removal Cream

Out of all the products, I am most excited to try this because heck I am in need this hairy girl problems! I will probably put this to the test in a few months as it’s winter now and I don’t have a significant other to have super smooth legs or whatever for 🙄 . This product must be like Veet. I will however report back if it works or if it is complete trash. This product is aimed at sensitive skin so I am happy for that as I have sensitive skin that misbehaves whenever something is remotely harsh.

city-girl-vibe-x-max-makeup-removing-cleansing-towel Max: Makeup Cleansing Towel

I have always wondered what the deal was with these makeup remover towels and now that I have two I get the jist of it. I have been using these everyday since I got it and I will have a review up on the blog later this week. If you want to know if it really works or if it is a gimmick, definitely come check back later this week to read my thoughts on it. This brand is not available in SA but I am have seen these makeup remover towels being sold locally if you’re perhaps interested in trying this product out.

And that is a wrap up of my new goodies from the UAE Drugstore. Which items got your attention the most? Thank you for reading darlings and here’s to a fabush Monday and week ahead.

{Review} Sephora Charcoal Nose Strip.

So I am going to start off this review sounding like a broken record and echoing the words of many South African beauty enthusiasts. bloggers and vloggers… When will we get a Sephora in South Africa? Gosh, it has been a long time “begging”.  Nonetheless when I find myself traveling or have one of my family members coming in from whichever place they are traveling too, and get asked what I want from Sephora, I ALWAYS ask for anything from the Sephora Collection brand. Now I have had these Sephora Charcoal nose strips since last year April when my sister returned from the Middle East but I just haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet.

On my nose and cheek area, I have craters for pores. We all know this stems from blackheads where oil and other substances gathers in there and clogs it. Using makeup doesn’t exactly help the situation but of course, a girl never learns. Seeing that it is winter and my skin requires all the love that it can get, I decided to pull these nosestrips out of my stash and give them a go. Sephora has such a huge range of these Sephora Collection branded face masks and I would highly suggest popping a few of these in your basket should you find yourself travelling wherever there is a Sephora. Ideally, there are a few local online suppliers that stock Sephora branded products but we all know the exorbitant prices of these sellers. city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-charcoal-nosestripLet’s get into the reviewing part of this post, these nose strips are aimed at purifying and scrubbing (scrubbing, how?) and you find one strip per pack. I had a total of three strips and used all three of them in one go. I put one on my nose, and one on each of my cheeks. Following the instructions on the sachet was pretty clear and straightforward. Firstly you position the strips where you want it and then you wet it to activate it and make it stick even more. Before applying the nose strip, you have to make sure that your face is makeup free and clean. Don’t dry your face as your face should be wet/damp when applying the strip.

When the nose strip is dampened on the nose, it is a much darker grey. I left it on for 15 minutes as the instructions suggested. When smoothing out the ridges that forms (especially on the nose area) you will have a lot of grey residue on your fingers so stay away from wearing light shaded clothing when using these nose strips. You can quickly feel this mask getting to work as when you try to move your nose a bit, it has a tight feeling. The scent of the strips is quite fresh (floral and citrusy) and smells somewhat high end. You would think that something this fragrant would irritate your skin especially if you have sensitive skin but these strips are however clinically tested and suitable for all skin types.city-girl-vibe-x-sephora-charcoal-nosestrip-reviewThese strips retails for R57.12 at Sephora in Dubai Mall which is a bit steep for one nose strip. Obviously due to the exchange rate the price may vary from country to country but these were purchased in the UAE. Now I know you’re probably screaming at me to reach a verdict whether these nose strips work or not and I can happily report that YES THEY DO. So when I went to research the current price of these strips on the Sephora UAE site, I saw quite a number of mixed reviews on this product. When I do my reviewing of products, I initially hold off from googling the product because I don’t want to go into the review process with preconceived notions of the product that will later cloud my thinking and writing.

As with any product, especially in skincare, people’s opinions and experiences will always differ. What you might seek out of a product might be different to what I might. I do however feel like this product worked for me as it extracted 90% of the gunk in my pores. I didn’t want to upload an after picture of the strip as it looked really nasty. Removing the nose strip was actually not that painful – well depending  on your pain threshold. On a scale from 1-5 for an average individual, I would give it a 3. After the removal of the strip you can also see dead skin cells on the strip. You are left with just a little bit of residue but nothing that a little bit of lukewarm water can’t fix. The areas where the strips were applied felt super soft and smooth after.

All in all, would I purchase these nose strips? Absolutely! Obviously there are some locally available charcoal face masks or facial products which is just as great and does a fabush job of eliminating toxins, dirt, impurities and protecting your skin against everyday pollution but having a product like this available to me when overseas would be quite nice seeing that I had a pleasant experience using it.

{Review} Max Makeup Cleansing Towel

So the first item that I will be reviewing from my UAE drugstore stash is the Max Makeup Cleansing Towel. I have seen this makeup removing towel floating around the beauty community / interwebs for a hot minute and I have always wondered what the deal was and if it really worked. I wanted to test out whether it lived up to their claims and whether it would remove even the toughest waterproof mascara in my collection. This was the first product that I started using the minute I got my goodies and I decided to use it every night for the past 2 weeks, using different methods and products to see which method removes my makeup best.

The Max brand is not available in South Africa but I have seen two more popular brands namely Wonder Towel (R199) and Makeup Eraser (R249.99). I obviously cannot attest for which one is better as I haven’t used either of the two but I just wanted to throw it out there just in case you wanted to give this cloth a go. Now one of the main reasons why I was so excited to try this makeup removing cloth is because it claims that you don’t need additional product such as liquid makeup remover or makeup cleansing milk. I thought that it was also a great substitute for makeup remover wipes especially since, recently attention was brought to the disposal of wipes and their inability to be recycled or compostable.city-girl-vibe-x-max-makeup-removing-cleansing-towelSo the Max Makeup Cleansing Towel comes in a pack of two. It is super soft and very gentle on the skin. Instead of keeping you to the end of the post to see whether it works or not… It really does. It does a great job at removing makeup and prepping your skin for your night time skincare routine. It even removes “tough” makeup like waterproof mascara and makeup that has been set with different powders and setting sprays. After a long day and it is time for my makeup to come off, I simply wet the cloth and squeeze out excess water then wipe off my makeup in circular motions. On the care instructions it says that you should squeeze out excess water instead of wringing it dry.

I have used my Sephora Micellar Cleansing Milk to remove my makeup with the cloth but I feel like it used too much product as opposed to using clean water. The Sephora micellar cleansing milk did however also do an amazing job at removing my makeup. Ultimately you would question whether a normal facecloth could remove your makeup as well and the answer is yes, but it is however much more abrasive on the skin. The Max Makeup Cleansing Towel consists of microfibres that is so gentle on the skin and only requires water to get rid of stubborn makeup at the end of the night.city-girl-vibe-x-max-makeup-remover-clothThe wash instructions are all stated on the label and I usually just use either shampoo or face wash to remove the stains from the cloth. In order for me to keep it in the best shape and condition as possible, I prefer handwashing it. It dries relatively fast which means that it is perfect for traveling. I would use it at night and by the next morning it would be dry. You can however just wet a small portion of it only when removing your makeup.

Some areas on your face requires lots of rubbing to get  makeup off, especially the eye area. If you’re someone like me that has light sensitive or sensitive eyes in general, you know the struggle with removing makeup, this item is perfect for you.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! I feel like it is a great way to save money and also find something that is gentle on the skin.

{New In} First Impressions: Citi Girl Makeup

You asked and I listened! From time to time I get requests and recommendations from readers asking to review products and I always try my best to meet those requirements. Sometimes I get ideas for blog posts from search engine terms that brings readers to my blog and for some reason “Citi Girl Makeup sold at Edgars” is one of them. I decided to pop into Edgars the other day and spotted the Citi Girl brand, saw the prices and didn’t hesitate to pop a few items into my basket. So the Citi Girl brand falls into the same category as Design Cosmetics and if you’re regular reader then you would know that I have tested quite a few products in the design cosmetics range in a:

The producers of Design Cosmetics are the same as the producers of Citi Girl. Before we get into this post, No this is not my brand… I just needed to make that clear. I was drawn to the brand even more due to their affordable prices and not because the name is so fitting to the blog… okay fine! the name was what sealed the deal. First off, there is quite a big selection of this brand on offer at Edgars and I found a big display at the Edgars store in Vangate Mall. Now don’t fret if you don’t have this range available in your nearest Edgars, what I love most about this brand is that it is available online as well. Before I trickle on, this is not a review post. It is more of a first impressions and to show you what this brand has to offer. I will have full reviews on each product in the weeks to come and include a makeup look.city-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-display-vangate-mall-edgarsSome of the products that I did not buy is the nail polishes, nail polish remover, liquid liner, the other mascara in the product line, the compact foundation, the rest of the lip and eyeliner pencils, the lip glosses and the other lipsticks in the range. I didn’t want to go too crazy in the spending department so I decided to buy enough products to create a full face. I totally forgot to grab the liquid liner and will most probably purchase it before I do full reviews. I may purchase the rest of the products in the makeup line the next time I pop into Edgars as well. The total of my basket came to R358,86 which is not bad at all considering all of the products I recieved. city-girl-vibe-x-edgars-citi-girl-makeup-collectionI checked the labelling and the manufacturers of both Citi Girl and Design Cosmetic and they are the same company. I have to say that I am more in love with the packaging of Citi Girl. There are some similarities in the packaging of both brands but Citi Girl’s eyeshadow quads reminds of some Smashbox eyeshadows that I have in my collection and their blush reminds of MAC.

Citi Girl – Foundation: Soft Beigecity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-foundation-in-shade-soft-beigeI am always keen on trying a new foundation. I have the shade “soft beige” which is on the lighter shade of the options available. It is my exact same shade and name as the foundation in the Design Cosmetics range. Many people would gravitate toward a pump foundation but to be completely honest, I prefer these foundations with the spatula. There are 10 shades in this foundation which is not such a big selection. To be quite honest, there aren’t shades for the pale and for the deep skin tones, but if you’re light-medium-dark then you will find your shade in this beauty line. This foundation retails for R44.95 .

Citi Girl – Foundation Stick: Cocoacity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-foundation-stick-in-shade-cocoaNow what this brand lacks in shades in the liquid foundations, they make up for in their stick foundations and in their compact foundations. I was struggling to find a shade light enough yet warm enough for contour, which is what I am going to use my stick foundation for. This formulation is definitely better than the Design Cosmetics stick foundation as it is blends more seamlessly (I will elaborate further in my full review). This foundation stick retails for R39.95 and comes in 8 shades.

Citi Girl – Blush: Pink Macaroon city-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-blush-in-shade-pink-macaroonFrom what I saw on the display case, this blush comes in four shades. There was a pale pink, a peach, this cerise pink and a mauve. I felt like this one would best show up on my skin as the other two lighter shades seemed more fitting for lighter skin tones. Without giving too much away, I forgot how much I loved blush until I started playing around with this blush. When you lift the top compartment where the blush is, you will also find a mirror and a tiny brush. Also, a little goes a looooooong way – tread carefully. This blush retails for R39.95 .

Citi Girl – Eyeshadow Quad: Beyond Naturalcity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-beyond-natural-eyeshadow-quadYou all already know by now that I am a nudes girl. When I saw this quad I knew that I had to have it. I feel like it is flattering for all skin tones and is one of those everyday eyeshadow palettes that you would use for work. It is also a great addition to your travel makeup bag. I feel like you could use this entire quad to create an eyelook without having to dip into other palettes. This quad consists of mattes and shimmers. At first I thought that it was only shimmers but when I started playing around I realised that once the top layer of product was off, the shimmer specks blended away giving you a matte and shimmer quad. This eyeshadow quad retails for R39.95 .

Citi Girl – Eyeshadow Quad: Deep Autumncity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-deep-autumn-eyeshadow-quadNow this quad and it shades encapsulates autumn in the city perfectly. It might look similar to the Beyond Natural quad but it is so different in shade and consistency.  I feel like with the addition of this quad, you can take your eye look from a day at the office to a night out in the city by adding a little bit of shimmer to the lids. Both quads has a mirror and sponge applicator in the lower compartment which also make it great for traveling, retailing at R39.95 . There is a colour option of six different quads in this beauty line so it caters to both the muted and bold eyeshadow wearers.

Citi Girl – Compact Powder: Caramel city-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-compact-powder-in-shade-caramelSo I couldn’t find a shade light enough as a setting powder so I decided to purchase this compact powder as a bronzer. There were many options for deeper skin tones but nothing available for the medium to light skin spectrum. In this compact powder you also receive a sponge puff/applicator. I would definitely have used the sponge if this powder was for setting my face but you can’t be applying bronzer with a puff like this. This compact powder retails for R44.95 and comes in 10 shades.

Citi Girl – Lip/Eyeliner Pencil: Ruby Redcity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-lip-eyeliner-pencilThis is one of those double use products that can be used on both the eyes and lips. The actual product is much darker in comparison to the tube. I can’t even express how happy I am that this product comes in a roll-up/down tube as I remember that my Design Cosmetics lip liner required sharpening (Thank goodness it came with a sharpener attached to the cap). This eye and lip liner duo comes in 6 shades and retails for R34.95 .

Citi Girl – Round Lipstick: Pale Pinkcity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-lipstick-vitamin-e-long-lasting-in-shade-pale-pinkStepping out of my lipstick comfort zone, I decided to go for a much lighter shade than I usually would as my go to shades are usually deep reds or purples. There are many lipsticks and lip products in the Citi Girl range. Edgars currently has a 20% off all lipsticks in the Citi Girl range. This lipstick is enriched with Vitamin E and it is long lasting, perfect winter combo, right? In this particular lipstick there are 6 shades and it retails for R29.95 .

Citi Girl – Waterproof Mascara: Blackcity-girl-vibe-x-citi-girl-makeup-waterproof-mascara-in-shade-blackLastly in my list of items that I purchased is the waterproof mascara. There are two mascaras in the Citi Girl range but I decided to go with this one as I was drawn to the packaging more. Just to throw it out there, this mascara is B-O-M-B AF but it is not waterproof. This mascara retails for R49.95.

And that is the last of the goodies that I bought. I will create a look with all of the goodies that I bought and then maybe go back and buy all of the items that I didn’t get. As you can see, the prices are quite affordable and if you are someone that are looking into growing your makeup collection with staple items then give this brand a go.

{Review} Himalaya Herbals: Nourishing Skin Cream – All Day Moisturizing

So the second product in my UAE Haul goodies is the Himalaya Herbals Moisturizer. Now when winter rolls around, I up my skincare routine in an instant because no one likes dry, chapped and cracked skin. The best part of this review is that you can find this product at Dischem and it is super affordable. Dischem carries the whole Himalaya range and after using this product, I am so keen to venture into the rest of the range. I have been using this skin cream everyday for 2 weeks and I can definitely say that it is the best moisturizer that I have ever used. My opinion may differ from others but we all seek different benefits from skincare and we are all different. city-girl-vibe-x-himalaya-nourishing-skin-creamI love using this cream under a really drying (matte) foundation as it fills my pores and preps my skin for the makeup to follow. When I use this moisturizer, I also don’t feel the need for a primer. It is very seldom that I find a moisturizer that works for my overly sensitive skin so when I do find one and it is this great, then it most certainly makes its way onto my repurchase list. This product forms part of the bodycare range but it was extremely gentle on my face and didn’t irritate it one bit. A little of this product goes a long way and I have even used it on other areas of my body.

A little bit of cream goes a long way so a tub like this would last me roughly 2 months. The nourishing skin cream is packed with Aloe Vera, Withnania somnifera (Winter Cherry) and Pterocarpus marsupium (Indian Kino Tree) that protects the skin from pollution and dry weather. These are all essential elements for us city living girls.city-girl-vibe-x-himalaya-herbals-nourishing-skin-creamThe formula of the cream is quite whipped and somewhat reminds me of Nivea or Glysolid . Even though the cream is quite nourishing and moisturizing, it isn’t greasy or leaves a residue. It absorbs into the skin effortlessly.  The only downside about this product is that when I apply a tad too much, my skin won’t absorb the product and it feels heavy on the skin.

I love the scent of this moisturizer as it has quite a subtle fresh fragrance that isn’t overpowering. This is by no means a new product on the market and I have seen this brand before but for some reason didn’t purchase anything from their line of products. city-girl-vibe-x-himalaya-nourishing-skin-cream-all-day-moisturizingFor some reason I only have eczema behind my ears and along my hairline/scalp, I have used this  to relieve and moisturize the area and prevent flaking. If you feel like your skin has lost moisture during the colder winter months, this is the perfect product as it nourishes and replenishes lost moisture. It makes my skin feel supple and hydrated all day without feeling the need to reapply it.

The himalayaherbals.co.za site also has an online store so you can purchase products from all their ranges directly from the Himalaya Herbals website. I am so keen on trying their face care range of products. The Himalaya Herbals: Nourishing Skin Cream – All Day Moisturizer retails for R39.95 and you get a 50ml free product included.
